Standards for the Inca Trail tour
On admission to the Inca Trail km 82 must enter the original passport where the person with the register data contrasted attachment or authorization and passport.
Use only the marked trails without leaving them.
Camp in designated areas, can not do inside the archaeological groups or restricted areas.
Waste and trash must be carried in plastic bags and delivered to end your visit.
The bonfires are dangerous, are not allowed.
The archaeological sites are intangible. Most of the route is very safe, but that does not have to take it lightly. In some places, there are deep precipices. If you want to see something, do so after stopping while slightly dizzy could trip and fall.
The Inca Trail is clearly marked, and should not abandon the tour. If someone is lost, it would be very difficult location.

No alcoholic beverages is recommended.
In case of emergency put in knowledge to guide or control staff.
It is recommended to bring:
- Original passport. If you do not wear it will not allow entry to the Inca Trail, and if a student must have the ISIC card.

- Trousers.
- Long-sleeved shirts.
- T-shirts, sweaters and a jacket.
- Waterproof or rainwear.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Inca Trail
1 .- Can I do the Inca Trail without a Tour Operator?
No. From the 1st of January 2001, prohibited from making this walk independently. However, strict regulations were not met until early 2002. You should contact an operator to obtain necessary permits, tickets must be purchased Inca Trail in Cusco in advance and only through a licensed operator of Inca Trail. Tickets can not be purchased at the entry point of the Inca Trail.
2 .- Do I make a reservation for the Inca Trail in advance or hope to get to Cusco?
Because the number of people allowed per day has been reduced considerably, it is advisable to book 5-6 weeks in advance minimum. This is particularly important if you are planning on arriving in Cusco during the peak season (June to September)
3 .- What is the best time of year to do the Inca Trail?
The "dry" season from April to October seems to be appropriate to do the Inca Trail, at least when the weather is concerned. It is usually dry but can rain at any time. Consider the wide range of temperatures. At altitude, the weather is sunny during the day and cold and windy night.
4 .- What is the difficulty of the Inca Trail?
The hike is physically challenging, but does not require any technical skill. The difficulty mostly comes from the repeated ascending and descending stairs, and height. The climb to the first pass takes approximately 2000 to 4000 m.a.s.l. in a relatively short length followed by a decrease of approximately 1500 m. After the second pass (3500 m) the hike is usually easier.
5 .- How do to get water?
Tour operators usually provide boiled water to fill their bottles at mealtimes, but clean water is always sure to wear your water purification tablets and follow the instructions. The purification tablets "Micropur" can be purchased at most drugstores and pharmacies in Cusco. With these pills, you should wait 40 minutes before drinking. We recommend bringing a bottle of water at least ½ to 1 liter capacity.
It can take bottled water from Cusco, buy at Km 82, before reaching Wayllabamba in Wiñaywayna and Machu Picchu. If you are hiring the services of a personal porter can probably be supplemented by several bottles of water. Besides, on the road you will find streams of water every hour and half walk about from where you can replenish your water bottle, do not forget the pills.
6 .- How are the toilets?
The toilets have improved considerably in the last 2 years and in all the camps you will find toilets with running water. Generally kept clean. There are facilities for showering at Wiñaywayna (day 3) but not always clean and have to pay extra to use.
7 .- Can I hire a personal porter? When?
Our service includes service as porters to carry food, tents and cooking equipment. However, during the Inca Trail you should carry personal items (backpack, camera, water, etc.) Sleeping bag and pad (both teams generally provided by the tour operator). Hire a personal carrier can make the walk more enjoyable and to walk without all the extra weight. Each carrier can load up to 18 kilograms and must be booked at the same time the Inca Trail.
